Ryan Dempster retires
Ryan Dempster announced his retirement from playing baseball in December 2014. The RHP had 16 seasons MLB experience playing with the Florida Marlins (1998-2002), Cincinnati Reds (2002-2003), Chicago Cubs (2004-2012), Texas Rangers (2012) and Boston Red Sox (2013).He did not pitch in 2014. For his MLB career he was 132-133, 4.35 ERA, 2075 K, 1.43 WHIP, 87 SV in 2387.0 IP over 579 games with 351 GS. Dempster was a World Series champion in 2013 and was twice an All-Star (2000, 2008). He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the third round in 1995. Dempster was 36 at the time of his retirement.
