Heath Bell retires
Heath Bell announced his retirement from playing baseball in March 2015. The RHP had 11 seasons MLB experience playing with the New York Mets (2004-2006), San Diego Padres (2007-2011), Miami Marlins (2012), Arizona Diamondbacks (2013) and Tampa Bay Rays (2014). For 2014 he was 1-1, 7.27 ERA, 12 K, 1.85 WHIP, .324 BAA in 17.1 IP over 13 games with the Rays, released, 2-0, 4.22 ERA, 11 K, 1.97 WHIP, .341 BAA, 1 SB in 10.2 IP over 10 games at Triple A Norfolk of the Orioles, released, 0-1, 7.50 ERA, 8 K, 2.17 WHIP, .292 BAA, 1 SV in 6.0 IP over 5 games at Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and released. For his MLB career he was 38-32, 3.49 ERA, 637 K, 1.27 WHIP, .247 BAA, 168 SV in 628.2 IP over 590 games. He originally signed with the Mets as a non-drafted free agent in 1998. Bell was 37 at the time of his retirement.
