Here is my fifth Two Major One Minor segment of 2015. This is my fifth year of doing this series where I feature two Major League players and one minor league player each week. This week I am featuring Freddy Galvis, Brandon Guyer and Clint Coulter.
Galvis is a 2B\SS\3B with the Philadelphia Phillies trying to have his breakout season. He is hitting .330/.376/.394 with 1 HR, 8 RBI, 11 R, 2 SB in 31 games on the last place team in the NL East. Currently he is out performing anything he has done in the Majors or minors. He's in his fourth MLB season with the Phillies and still young after turning 25 on November 14. His hot start is one of the few bright spots as the Phillies struggle. He originally signed with the Phillies in 2006 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela.
Guyer is an outfielder with the Tampa Bay Rays who is also in his fourth MLB season. He got his first real playing time last year and is looking to build on that. This season he is hitting .286/.393/.457 with 2 HR, 11 RBI, 12 R, 3 SB in 26 games. He is hitting his stride later than some having turned 29 on January 28. Yet he showed in the minors that he could hit for average with some power and speed as he hit above .300 three seasons, touched the 14 HR mark three times and passed 20 SB four times. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the fifth round in 2007.
Coulter is an outfielder playing for Class A Advanced Brevard County of the Milwaukee Brewers. This season he is hitting .310/.400/.560 with 7 HR, 24 RBI, 18 R, 4 SB in 30 games. He's already adjusting to the move up after a good season at Class A Wisconsin last year where he hit .287/.410/.520 with 22 HR, 89 RBI, 84 R, 6 SB in 126 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers with the 27th pick of the first round in 2012. Coulter will be 22 on July 30.
