College Spotlight 051115

Here is my 11th installment of College Spotlight for 2015. This week I am looking at David Kerian of Illinois and Matt Hall of Missouri State.


Kerian is a senior 1B\OF out of Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Dakota Dunes, SD. He has been one of the offensive forces that has propelled his team to a 24 game winning streak. During the 3 game sweep of Rutgers this weekend he was 6 for 13 with 1 HR, 5 RBI, 3 R and 1 BB. This season he is hitting .374/.459/.638 with 12 HR, 42 RBI, 39 R, 9 SB in 49 games. Last season he hit .280/.384/.404 with 2 HR, 33 RBI, 24 R, 9 SB in 51 games. The Fightin Illini have dominated the Big Ten with a 19-1 conference record and are 43-6-1 as they start to pave the road to Omaha.

Hall is a junior LHP out of Lee's Summit West High School in Lee's Summit, MO. Saturday he shut down the bats of Southern Illinois as he set a school record with 14 strikeouts in a 5-0 victory. His line for the game was 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 14 K in 119 pitches. This season he is 8-2, 2.59 ERA, 124 K, 1.14 WHIP, .214 BAA, 1 SV in 90.1 IP over 14 games. Last season he was 2-4, 4.02 ERA, 61 K, 1.45 WHIP, .275 BAA in 65.0 IP over 16 games. The Bears are 38-10 this season and are likely to host a regional in the 64 team tournament.
