Padres Call Up Yasmani Grandal
The San Diego Padres have called up Yasmani Grandal from Triple A Tucson. The catcher is hitting .317/.421/.500 with 4 HR, 23 RBI, 22 R and 0 SB in 34 games at Triple A. He came to San Diego in the trade that sent Mat Latos to the Reds. In 2011 he shot up through the minors hitting .296/.410/.510 with 10 HR, 40 RBI, 47 R and 0 SB in 56 games at Class A Advanced, .301/.360/.474 with 4 HR, 26 RBI, 20 R and 0 SB in 45 games at Double A, and hit .500/.667/.667 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R and 0 SB in 4 games at Triple A. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the 12th pick of the first round in 2010, Grandal will be 24 on November 8th.
