The rosters have been revealed for the 2012 Futures Game to be played on July 8 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the pitchers on the US team.
Lisalberto Bonilla is a RHP of the Reading Phillies which is the Double A team of the Philadelphia Phillies. He started the season with Class A Advanced Clearwater and was 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA, 18 K, 0.97 WHIP, and one save in 13.1 IP over 10 games. With Reading he is 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA, 33 K, 1.18 WHIP and one save in 23.2 IP over 15 games. He originally signed with the Phillies in 2008. Bonilla was born in Samana, Dominican Republic and turned 22 on June 6th.
Edwar Cabrera is a LHP of the Tulsa Drillers which is the Double A team of the Colorado Rockies. With Tulsa he is 8-4 with a 2.94 ERA, 82 K, 0.90 WHIP in 98.0 IP over 15 games. He originally signed with the Rockies in 2008. Cabrera was born in Bani, Dominican Republic and will be 25 on October 20.
Jose Fernandez is a RHP of the Greensboro Grasshoppers which is the Class A team of the Miami Marlins. With Greensboro he is 7-0 with a 1.59 ERA, 99 K, 0.87 WHIP in 79.0 IP over 14 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins with the 14th pick of the first round in 2011. Fernandez was born in Cuba and will be 20 on July 31.
Kyle Lotzkar is a RHP of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos which is the Double A team of the Cincinnati Reds. He started the season with Class A Advanced Bakersfield and was 3-0 with a 2.39 ERA, 27 K, 1.21 WHIP in 26.1 IP over 5 games. With Pensacola he is 3-2 with a 3.02 ERA, 49 K, 1.37 WHIP in 41.2 IP over 8 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the 53rd pick of the first round in 2007. Lotzkar was born in Delta, British Columbia, Canada and will be 23 on October 24.
Chris Reed is a LHP of the Chattanooga Lookouts which is the Double A team of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He started the season with Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga where he was 1-4 with a 3.09 ERA, 38 K, 1.11 WHIP in 35.0 IP over 7 games. With Chattanooga he is 0-0 with a 2.00 ERA, 7 K, 1.00 WHIP in 9.0 IP over 3 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers with the 16th pick of the first round in 2011. Reed was born in London, England and turned 22 on May 20.
Felipe Rivero is a LHP of the Bowling Green Hot Rods which is the Class A team of the Tampa Bay Rays. With Bowling Green he is 6-5 with a 2.42 ERA, 66 K, 1.06 WHIP in 74.1 IP over 14 games.
