Futures Game 2012 US Team Outfield

The rosters have been revealed for the 2012 Futures Game to be played on July 8 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the outfielders on the US team.


Tyler Austin is a right-handed outfielder with the Charleston RiverDogs which is the Class A team of the New York Yankees. With Charleston he is hitting .340/.410/.651 with 14 HR, 54 RBI, 62 R, 15 SB in 60 games. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 13th round in 2010. Austin was born in Conyers, GA and will be 21 on September 6th.


Michael Choice is a right-handed outfielder with the Midland RockHounds which is the Double A team of the Oakland Athletics. With Midland he is hitting .264/.335/.375 with 6 HR, 43 RBI, 44 R, 4 SB in 70 games. He was originally drafted by the Athletics with the 10th pick of the first round in 2010. Choice was born in Grand Prairie, TX and will be 23 on November 10.


Anthony Gose is a left-handed outfielder with the Las Vegas 51's which is the Triple A team of the Toronto Blue Jays. With Las Vegas  he is hitting .294/.373/.429 with 3 HR, 35 RBI, 63 R, 26 SB in 72 games. He was originally drafted by the Phillies in the second round in 2008. Gose was born in Paramount, CA and will be 22 on August 10.


Wil Myers is a right-handed outfielder with the Omaha Storm Chasers which is the Triple A team of the Kansas City Royals. He started the season with Double A Northwest Arkansas where he hit .343/.414/.731 with 13 HR, 30 RBI, 32 R, 4 SB in 35 games. With Omaha he is hitting .315/.404/.661 with 11 HR, 32 RBI, 28 R, 1 SB in 34 games. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the third round in 2009. Myers was born in High Point, NC and turned 21 on December 10.


Christian Yelich is a left handed hitting outfielder with the Jupiter Hammerheads which is the Class A Advanced team with the Miami Marlins. With Jupiter he is hitting .282/.354/.512 with 7 HR, 21 RBI, 29 R, 11 SB in 45 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins with the 23rd pick of the first round in 2010. He was born in Thousand Oaks, CA and turned 20 on December 5th.
