The rosters have been revealed for the 2012 Futures Game to be played on July 8 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the infielders on the US team.
Nolan Arenado is a right-handed third baseman of the Tulsa Drillers which is the Double A team of the Colorado Rockies. With Tulsa he is hitting .288/.340/.427 with 7 HR, 37 RBI, 33 R, 0 SB in 72 games. He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the second round in 2009. Arenado was born in Newport Beach, CA and turned 21 on April 16.
Nick Castellanos is a right-handed third baseman of the Erie Seawolves which is the Double A team of the Detroit Tigers. He started the season with Class A Advanced Lakeland where he hit .405/.461/.553 with 3 HR, 32 RBI, 37 R, 3 SB in 55 games. With Erie he is hitting .264/.255/.396 with 1 HR, 6 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 13 games. He was originally drafted by the Tigerswith the 44th pick of the first round in 2010. Castellanos was born in Davie, FL and turned 20 on March 4th.
Scooter Gennett is a left-handed hitting second baseman with the Huntsville Stars which is the Double A team of the Milwaukee Brewers. With Huntsville he is hitting .297/.342/.413 with 3 HR, 23 RBI, 35 R, 7 SB in 72 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the 16th round in 2009. Gennett was born in Sarasota, FL and tirned 22 on May 1st.
Billy Hamilton is a switch hitting short stop with the Bakersfield Blaze which is the Class A Advanced team of the Cincinnati Reds. With Bakersfield he is hitting .332/.419/.448 with 1 HR, 25 RBI, 62 R, 83 SB in 68 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds in the second round in 2009. Hamilton was born in Taylorsville, MS and will be 22 on September 9th.
Manny Machado is a right-handed shortstop with the Bowie Baysox which is the Double A team of the Baltimore Orioles. With Bowie he is hitting .253/.336/.381 with 4 HR, 29 RBI, 28 R, 9 SB in 69 games. He was originally drafted by the Orioles with the third pick in the first round in 2010. Machado was born in Miami, FL and will be 20 on July 6th.
Mike Olt is a right-handed third baseman with the Frisco RoughRiders which is the Double A team of the Texas Rangers. Jonathan Singleton is a left-handed first baseman with the Corpus Christi Hooks which is the Double A team of the Houston Astros.
