Arizona 4 South Carolina 1 CWS 2012 game 15
Arizona won the 2012 College World Series and baseball national championship with their 4-1 victory over South Carolina in Omaha. South Carolina was bidding to become the first team to win three in a row since Southern California. Freshman RHP Mathew Troupe picked up the victory in relief after starter James Farris engaged in a pitchers duel with South Carolina's Michael Roth for over six innings. Arizona scored three in the top of the ninth with Robert Refsnyder first scoring on a double by Brandon Dixon and then Dixon and Bobby Brown scored on a Trent Gilbert single. South Carolina loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth but couldn't capitalize as Troupe pitched out of the jam getting Grayson Greiner to fly out to Refsnyder in right for the final out. The title is the fifth for Arizona and the first since 1986. Arizona Coach Andy Lopez had also won a Championship with Pepperdine in 1992.
