The rosters have been revealed for the 2012 Futures Game to be played on July 8 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the catchers on the World team.
Christian Bethancourt is a right-handed catcher with the Mississippi Braves which is the Double A team of the Atlanta Braves. With Mississippi he is hitting .260/.287/.280 with 0 HR, 11 RBI, 21 R, 5 SB in 42 games. He originally signed with the Braves in 2008. Bethancourt was born in Panama City, Panama and will be 21 on September 2nd.
Yasmani Grandal is a switch hitting catcher with the Tucson Padres which is the Triple A team of the San Diego Padres. With Tucson he is hitting .308/.413/.500 with 6 HR, 30 RBI, 33 R, 0 SB in 50 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the 12th pick of the first round in 2010. Grandal was born in La Habana, Cuba and will be 24 on November 8th.
