Craig Kimbrel was traded by the Atlanta Braves to the San Diego Padres on April 5, 2015 along with Melvin Upton Jr. The Braves in exchange received Cameron Maybin, Carlos Quentin, Jordan Paroubeck and Matt Wisler.
RHP Kimbrel in 2014 was 0-3, 1.61 ERA, 95 K, 0.91 WHIP, .142 BAA, 47 SV in 61.2 IP over 63 games with the Braves. It was the fourth consecutive year he led the National League in saves. Over six MLB seasons with the Padres and Braves he is 15-11, 1.64 ERA, 495 K, 0.93 WHIP, .158 BAA, 196 SV in 302.2 IP over 309 games. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the third round in 2008. Kimbrel will be 27 on May 28.
Upton is an outfielder who in 2014 hit .208/.287/.333 with 12 HR, 35 RBI, 67 R, 20 SB in 141 games with the Braves. Over 10 MMLB seasons with the Braves and Rays he hit .243/.324/.400 with 139 HR, 508 RBI, 636 R, 264 SB in 1233 games. He was originally drafted by the Devil Rays with the second pick of the first round in 2002. Upton will be 31 on August 21.
Maybin is an outfielder who in 2014 hit .235/.290/.331 with 1 HR, 15 RBI, 24 R, 4 SB in 95 games with the Padres. Over nine MLB seasons with the Braves, Padres, Marlins and Tigers he has hit .245/.309/.366 with 36 HR, 163 RBI, 281 R, 96 SB in 589 games. He was originally drafted by the Tigers with the 10th pick of the first round in 2005. Maybin turned 28 on April 4th.
Quentin is an outfielder who in 2014 hit .177/.284/.315 with 4 HR, 18 RBI, 9 R, 0 SB in 50 games with the Padres. Over nine MLB seasons with the Padres, White Sox and Daimondbacks he hit .252/.347/.484 with 154 HR, 491 RBI, 416 R, 16 SB in 834 games. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks with the 29th pick of the first round in 2003. Quentin will be 33 on August 28. He decided to retire a few weeks after the trade.
Paroubeck is an outfielder who played in 2014 at Rookie Arizona where he hit .286/.346/.457 with 4 HR, 24 RBI, 26 R, 4 SB in 34 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the second round in 2013. Paroubeck turned 20 on November 2nd.
RHP Wisler split 2014 between Double A San Antonio and Triple A El Paso. He was 1-0, 2.10 ERA, 35 K, 1.07 WHIP, .234 BAA in 30.0 IP over 6 games at San Antonio and 9-5, 5.01 ERA, 101 K, 1.43 WHIP, .279 BAA in 116.2 IP over 22 games at El Paso. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the seventh round in 2011. Wisler will be 23 on September 12.
