Kevin Youkilis traded to White Sox

Kevin Youkilis was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Chicago White Sox on June 24, 2012. In exchange the Red Sox receive Brent Lillibridge and Zach Stewart.


Youkilis is a 1B\3B was in his ninth season with the Red Sox. This season he has hit .233/.315/.377 with 4 HR, 14 RBI, 25 R, 0 SB in 42 games. In 2011 he hit .258/.373/.459 with 17 HR, 80 RBI, 68 RBI, 3 SB in 120 games. For his career he has hit .287/.388/.487 with 133 HR, 564 RBI, 594 R, 26 SB in 953 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the eighth round in 2001. Youkilis turned 33 on March 15.


Lillibridge is a utility player who over the past two seasons has played first, second, third and outfield. He was in his fourth season with the White Sox after part of a season with the Braves in 2008. This season he has hit .175/.232/.190 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 10 R, 7 SB in 49 games. In 2011 he hit .258/.340/.505 with 13 HR, 29 RBI, 38 R, 10 SB in 97 games. For his career he has hit .215/.283/.358 with 16 HR, 58 RBI, 85 R, 30 SB in 285 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the fourth round in 2005. Lillibridge will be 29 on September 18.


Stewart is a RHP was in his second season with the White Sox after being traded from the Blue Jays last year. This season he is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA, 16 K, 1.50 WHIP in 30.0 IP over 18 games. In his rookie season in 2011 he was 0-1 with a 4.86 ERA, 10 K, 1.86 WHIP in 16.2 IP over 3 games with the Blue Jays and was 2-5 with a 6.22 ERA, 35 K, 1.52 WHIP in 50.2 IP over 10 games with the White Sox. He was originally drafted by the Reds in the third round in 2008. Stewart will be 26 on September 28.
