Jason Grilli traded to Rangers

Jason Grilli was traded by the Toronto Blue Jays to the Texas Rangers on July 2, 2017. The Blue Jays in exchange received Eduard Pinto.

RHP Grilli was 2-4, 6.97 ERA, 23 K, 1.60 WHIP, .279 BAA, 1 SV in 20.2 IP over 26 games with the Blue Jays in 2017. Over 15 MLB seasons with the Blue Jays, Braves, Angels, Pirates, Rangers, Rockies, Tigers, White Sox and Marlins he was 34-46, 4.18 ERA, 669 K, 1.36 WHIP, .247 BAA, 79 SV in 665.1 IP over 575 games with 16 GS. He was originally drafted by the Giants with the fourth pick of the first round in 1997. Grilli turned 40 on November 11. 

Pinto is an outfielder who hit 55 for 177, .311/.358/.446 with 4 HR, 18 RBI, 30 R, 7 SB in 46 games at Class A Advanced Down East in 2017. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2011 as an amatuer free agent out of Venezuela. Pinto turned 22 on October 23.
