Todd Frazier traded to Yankees in 7 Player Deal

Todd Frazier was traded by the Chicago White Sox to the New York Yankees on July 19, 2017 along with David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle. The White Sox in exchange received Tyler Clippard, Ian Clarkin, Blake Rutherford and Tito Polo.

Third baseman Frazier hit 58 for 280, .207/.328/.432 with 16 HR, 44 RBI, 41 R, 4 SB in 81 games with the White Sox in 2017. Over seven MLB seasons with the White Sox and Reds he hit .247/.318/.461 with 164 HR, 466 RBI, 435 R, 62 SB in 872 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the 34th pick of the first round in 2007 and was traded to the White Sox in 2015. Frazier turned 31 on February 12.

RHP Robertson was 4-2, 2.70 ERA, 47 K, 0.96 WHIP, .176 BAA, 13 SV in 33.1 IP over 31 games with the White Sox in 2017. Over 10 MLB seasons with the White Sox and Yankees he was 40-29, 2.95 ERA, 732 K, 1.18 WHIP, .213 BAA, 131 SV in 552.1 IP over 555 games. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 17th round in 2006 and signed with the White Sox in 2014 as a free agent. Robertson turned 32 on April 9th.

RHP Kahnle was 1-3, 2.50 ERA, 60 K, 0.97 WHIP, .214 BAA in 36.0 IP over 37 games with the White Sox in 2017. Over four MLB seasons with the White Sox and Rockies he was 3-6, 3.70 ERA, 187 K, 1.31 WHIP, .218 BAA, 3 SV in 165.1 IP over 156 games. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the fifth round in 2010, selected by the Rockies in the 2013 Rule 5 draft and traded to the White Sox in 2015. Kahnle will be 28 on August 7th.

RHP Clippard was 1-5, 4.95 ERA, 42 K, 1.29 WHIP, .209 BAA, 1 SV in 36.1 IP over 40 games with the Yankees in 2017. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Mets, Athletics and Nationals he was 47-40, 3.06 ERA, 726 K, 1.12 WHIP, .196 BAA, 57 SV in 661.1 IP over 598 games with 8 GS. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the ninth round in 2003. Clippard turned 32 on February 14. 

LHP Clarkin was 4-5, 2.62 ERA, 58 K, 1.27 WHIP, .254 BAA in 253.2 IP over 15 games with 14 GS at Class A Advanced Tampa in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Yankees with the 33rd pick of the first round in 2013. Clarkin turned 22 on February 14,

Outfielder Rutherford hit 77 for 274, .281/.342/.391 with 2 HR, 30 RBI, 41 R, 9 SB in 71 games at Class A Charleston in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Yankees with the 18th pick of the first round in 2016. Rutherford turned 20 on May 2nd. 

Outfielder Polo had split 2017 between Tampa and Double A Trenton. He hit 68 for 235, .289/.346/.434 with 4 HR, 20 RBI, 42 R, 20 SB in 60 games at Tampa and 21 for 55, .382/.460/.545 with 1 HR, 17 RBI, 14 R, 7 SB in 14 games at Trenton. He originally signed with the Pirates in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of Columbia and was traded to the Yankees in 2016. Polo will be 23 on August 23.
