Marco Gonzalez traded to Mariners

Marco Gonzalez was traded by the St Louis Cardinals to the Seattle Mariners on July 21, 2017. The Cardinals in exchange received Tyler O'Neill.

LHP Gonzalez had split 2017 between Class A Advanced Palm Beach, Triple A Memphis and the Cardinals. He was 0-0, 1.50 ERA, 7 K, 0.33 WHIP, .100 BAA in 6.0 IP in 1 GS at Palm Beach, 6-4, 2.90 ERA, 57 K, 1.04 WHIP, .220 BAA in 68.1 IP over 11 GS at Memphis and 0-0, 13.50 ERA, 2 K, 1.80 WHIP, .375 BAA in 3.1 IP in 1 GS with the Cardinals. Over three MLB seasons with the Cardinals he was 4-2, 5.53 ERA, 34 K, 1.65 WHIP, .276 BAA in 40.2 IP over 12 games with 7 GS. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals with the 19th pick of the first round in 2013. Gonzalez turned 25 on February 16.

Outfielder O'Neill hit 85 for 349, .244/.328/.479 with 19 HR, 56 RBI, 54 R, 9 SB in 93 games at Triple A Tacoma in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the third round in 2013. O'Neill turned 22 on June 22.
