Jean Machi traded to White Sox

Jean Machi was traded by the Seattle Mariners to the Chicago White Sox on July 24, 2017 along with Mark Lowe for cash. 

RHP Machi had split 2017 between Triple A Tacoma and the Mariners. He was 2-4, 3.44 ERA, 29 K, 1.28 WHIP, .281 BAA, 10 SV in 36.2 IP over 29 games with 3 GS at Tacoma and 1-0, 1.17 ERA, 4 K, 1.43 WHIP, .269 BAA in 7.2 IP over 5 games with the Mariners. Over five MLB seasons with the Mariners, Red Sox and Giants he was 13-2, 3.38 ERA, 152 K, 1.15 WHIP, .233 BAA, 6 SV in 191.2 IP over 194 games. He originally signed with the Phillies in 2000 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Machi turned 25 on February 1st.

RHP Lowe was 3-4, 6.23 ERA, 37 K, 1.77 WHIP, .302 BAA, 1 SV in 39.0 IP over 32 games at Tacoma in 2017. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Mariners, Tigers, Blue Jays, Indians, Angels, and Rangers he was 10-27, 4.22 ERA, 352 K, 1.42 WHIP, .260 BAA, 6 SV in 385.2 IP over 382 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the fifth round in 2004. Lowe turned 34 on June 7.
