Howie Kendrick traded to Nationals

Howie Kendrick was traded by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Washington Nationals on July 28, 2017 along with cash. The Phillies in exchange received McKenzie Mills and international signing bonus pool space.

Kendrick is a utility player at OF\2B\1B\3B who hit 48 for 141, .340/.397/.454 with 2 HR, 16 RBI, 16 R, 8 SB in 39 games with the Phillies in 2017. Over 12 MLB seasons with the Phillies, Dodgers and Angels he hit .290/.334/.418 with 97 HR, 611 RBI, 679 R, 119 SB in 1383 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 10th round in 2002, was traded to the Dodgers in 2014 and traded to the Phillies in 2016. Kendrick turned 34 on July 12.

LHP Mills was 12-2, 3.01 ERA, 118 K, 0.95 WHIP, .204 BAA in 104.2 IP over 18 GS at Class A Hagerstown in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the 18th round in 2014. Mills turned 21 on November 19.
