Jaime Garcia traded to Twins

Jaime Garcia was traded by the Atlanta Braves to the Minnesota Twins on July 24, 2017 along with Anthony Recker and cash. The Braves in exchange received Huascar Ynoa.

LHP Garcia was 4-7, 4.30 ERA, 85 K, 1.32 WHIP, .252 BAA in 113.0 IP over 18 GS with the Braves in 2017. Over nine MLB seasons with the Braves and Cardinals he was 66-52, 3.65 ERA, 808 K, 1.29 WHIP, .258 BAA in 1009.0 IP over 176 games with 165 GS. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 22nd round in 2005 and was traded to the Braves in 2016. Garcia turned 31 on July 8th.

Catcher Recker had split 2017 between Triple A Gwinnett and the Braves. He hit 31 for 139, .223/.301/.381 with 4 HR, 10 RBI, 20 R, 1 SB in 41 games at Gwinnett and 1 for 7, .143/.143/.143 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 6 games with the Braves. Over seven MLB seasons with the Braves, Mets, Cubs and Athletics he hit .199/.283/.348 with 18 HR, 70 RBI, 55 R, 3 SB in 206 games. His MLB caught stealing rate is 26%. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the 18th round in 2005. Recker will be 34 on August 29.

RHP Ynoa was 0-1, 5.26 ERA, 23 K, 1.64 WHIP, .277 BAA in 25.2 IP over 6 GS at Rookie Elizabethton in 2017. He originally signed with the Twins in 2014 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Ynoa turned 19 on May 28.
