AJ Ramos was traded by the Miami Marlins to the New York Mets on July 28, 2017. The Marlins in exchange received Merandy Gonzalez and Ricardo Cespedes.
RHP Ramos was 2-4, 3.63 ERA, 47 K, 1.31 WHIP, .205 BAA, 20 SV in 39.2 IP over 40 games with the Marlins in 2017. Over six MLB seasons with the Marlins he was 15-16, 2.78 ERA, 379 K, 1.23 WHIP, .196 BAA, 92 SV in 327.1 IP over 325 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the 21st round in 2009. Ramos will be 31 on September 20.
RHP Gonzalez Had split 2017 between Class A Columbia and Class A Advanced St Lucie. He was 8-1, 1.55 ERA, 65 K, 0.90 WHIP, .200 BAA in 69.2 IP over 11 GS at Columbia and 4-2, 2.23 ERA, 24 K, 1.13 WHIP, .232 BAA in 36.1 IP over 6 GS at St Lucie. He originally signed with the Mets in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Gonzalez turned 21 on October 9th.
Outfielder Cespedes had split 2017 between Rookie Gulf Coast, Short Season A Brooklyn and Columbia, He hit 3 for 15, .200/.200/.200 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 R, 0 SB in 4 games at Gulf Coast, 18 for 80, .225/.262/.263 with 1 HR, 12 RBI, 3 R, 1 SB in 21 games at Brooklyn and 5 for 12, .417/.417/.500 with 0 HR, 3 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 5 games at Columbia. He originally signed with the Mets in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic although born in Bronx, NY. Cespedes will be 20 on August 24.
