Steve Cishek traded to Rays

Steve Cishek was traded by the Seattle Mariners to the Tampa Bay Rays on July 28, 2017. The Mariners in exchange received Erasmo Ramirez.

RHP Cishek had split 2017 between Double A Arkansas and Triple A Tacoma while rehabbing and with the Mariners. He was 0-0, 5.40 ERA, 4 K, 1.50 WHIP, .286 BAA in 3.1 IP over 4 games at Arkansas, 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 3 K, 1.88 WHIP, .222 BAA in 2.2 IP over 3 games at Tacoma and 1-1, 3.15 ERA, 15 K, 1.00 WHIP, .183 BAA, 1 SV in 20.0 IP over 23 games with the Mariners. Over eight MLB seasons with the Mariners, Cardinals and Marlins he was 22-27, 2.83 ERA, 423 K, 1.18 WHIP, .221 BAA, 121 SV in 397.0 IP over 396 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the fifth round in 2007. Cishek turned 31 on June 18.

RHP Ramirez was 4-3, 4.80 ERA, 55 K, 1.18 WHIP, .252 BAA, 1 SV in 69.1 IP over 26 games with 8 GS with the Rays in 2017. Over six MLB seasons with the Rays and Mariners he was 29-32, 4.23 ERA, 409 K, 1.25 WHIP, .252 BAA, 3 SV in 530.0 IP over 171 games with 71 GS. He originally signed with the Mariners in 2007 as an amateur free agent out of Nicaragua and was traded to the Rays in 2015. Ramirez turned 27 on May 2nd.
