Pat Neshek was traded by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Colorado Rockies on July 26, 2017. The Phillies in exchange received Alejandro Requena, J.D. Hammer and Jose Gomez.
RHP Neshek was 3-2, 1.12 ERA, 45 K, 0.82 WHIP, .199 BAA, 1 SV in 40.1 IP over 43 games with the Phillies in 2017. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Phillies, Astros, Cardinals, Athletics, Padres and Twins he was 31-21, 2.76 ERA, 423 K, 1.02 WHIP, .203 BAA, 8 SV in 423.2 IP over 466 games. He was originally drafted by the Twins in the sixth round in 2002. Neshek will be 37 on September 4th.
RHP Requena was 8-3, 2.85 ERA, 97 K, 1.09 WHIP, .239 BAA in 117.0 IP over 19 GS at Class A Asheville in 2017. He originally signed with the Rockies in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Requena turned 20 on November 29.
RHP Hammer had split 2017 between Asheville and Class A Advanced Lancaster. He was 4-1, 1.20 ERA, 47 K, 0.73 WHIP, .163 BAA, 7 SV in 30.0 IP over 24 games at Asheville and 0-1, 5.25 ERA, 18 K, 1.58 WHIP, .227 BAA, 6 SV in 12.0 IP over 12 games at Lancaster. He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the 24th round in 2016. Hammer turned 23 on July 12.
Gomez is a utility player at SS\2B\3B who hit 103 for 318, .324/.374/.437 with 4 HR, 33 RBI, 54 R, 18 SB in 81 games at Asheville in 2017. He originally signed with the Rockies in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Gomez turned 20 on December 10.
