Eduardo Nunez traded to Red Sox

Eduardo Nunez was traded by the San Francisco Giants to the Boston Red Sox on July 26, 2017. The Giants in exchange received Shaun Anderson and Gregory Santos.

Nunez is a utility player at SS\3B\2B\OF who hit 93 for 302, .308/.334/.417 with 4 HR, 31 RBI, 37 R, 18 SB in 76 games with the Giants in 2017. Over eight MLB seasons with the Giants, Twins and Yankees he hit .279/.317/.405 with 38 HR, 218 RBI, 261 R, 123 SB in 631 games. He originally signed with the Yankees in 2004 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic and was traded to the Giants in 2016. Nunez turned 30 on June 15.

RHP Anderson had split 2017 between Class A Greenville and Class A Advanced Salem. He was 3-0, 2.56 ERA, 37 K, 1.06 WHIP, .216 BAA in 38.2 IP over 7 GS at Greenville and 3-3, 3.99 ERA, 48 K, 1.21 WHIP, .236 BAA in 58.2 IP over 11 GS at Salem. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the third round in 2016. Anderson turned 22 on October 22.

RHP Santos was 2-0, 0.90 ERA, 24 K, 1.20 WHIP, .202 BAA in 30.0 IP over 7 GS at the Dominican Summer League in 2017. Santos originally signed with the Red Sox in 2015 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Santos will be 18 on August 28.
