Futures Game 2017 World Team Catchers

The rosters have been revealed for the 2017 Futures Game to be played on July 9 at Marlins Park, home of the Miami Marlins. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the catchers on the World team.

Francisco Mejia is a switch hitting catcher who played at Double A Akron of the Cleveland Indians. He hit 69 for 201, .343/.387/.577 with 9 HR, 32 RBI, 35 R, 5 SB in 52 games. He originally signed with the Indians in 2012 as an amateur free agent. Mejia was born in Bani, Dominican Republic and turned 21 on October 27. He was also on the 2016 team.

Tomas Nido is a right-handed catcher at Double A Binghamton of the New York Mets. He hit 24 for 213, .254/.293/.394 with 5 HR, 33 RBI, 25 R, 0 SB in 55 games. He was originally drafted by the Mets in the eighth round in 2012. Nido was born in Oviedo, FL and turned 23 on April 12. He represents Puerto Rico.
