I'm going to take a look at how the members of the 2011 Baseball America college baseball All American team did in 2012. It will be interesting how well early success translated to their later baseball careers.
RHP Trevor Bauer of UCLA was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the third pick of the first round in 2011. He split 2012 between Double A Mobile, Triple A Reno and the Diamondbacks. He was 7-1 with a 1.68 ERA, 60 K, 1.22 WHIP in 48.1 IP over 8 games at Mobile, was 5-1 with a 2.85 ERA, 97 K, 1.33 WHIP in 82.0 IP over 14 games at Reno and was 1-2 with a 6.06 ERA, 17 K, 1.65 WHIP in 16.1 IP over 4 games with the Diamondbacks.
LHP Sean Gilmartin of Florida State was drafted by the Atlanta Braves with the 28th pick of the first round in 2011. He split 2012 between Double A Mississippi and Triple A Gwinnett. He was 5-8 with a 3.54 ERA, 86 K, 1.15 WHIP in 119.1 IP over 20 games at Mississippi and was 1-2 with a 4.78 ERA, 25 K, 1.43 WHIP in 37.2 IP over 7 games at Gwinnett.
RHP Taylor Jungmann of Texas was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers with the 12th pick of the first round in 2011. He pitched 2012 at Class A Advanced Brevard County. He was 11-6 with a 3.53 ERA, 99 K, 1.34 WHIP in 153.0 IP over 26 games.
LHP Michael Roth of South Carolina was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 31st round in 2011, returned to school for his senior season and was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the ninth round in 2012. He pitched 2012 at Rookie Orem. He was 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA, 21 K, 1.54 WHIP in 22.0 IP over 11 games.
RHP Cody Martin of Gonzaga was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the seventh round in 2011. He pitched 2012 at Class A Advanced Lynchburg. He was 12-7 with a 2.93 ERA, 123 K, 1.18 WHIP in 107.1 IP over 22 games.
Catcher Mike Zunino of Florida was a sophomore in 2011 and was drafted by the Seattle Mariners with the third pick of the first round in 2012. He split 2012 between Class A Everett and Double A Jackson. He hit .373/.474/.736 with 10 HR, 35 RBI, 29 R, 1 SB in 29 games at Everett and hit .333/.386/.588 with 3 HR, 8 RBI, 6 R, 0 SB in 15 games at Jackson.
First baseman C J Cron of Utah was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels with the 17th pick of the first round in 2011. He played 2012 at Class A Advanced Inland Empire. He hit .293/.327/.516 with 27 HR, 123 RBI, 73 R, 3 SB in 129 games.
Second baseman Koten Wong of Hawaii was drafted by the St Louis Cardinals with the 22nd pick of the first round in 2011. He played 2012 at Double A Springfield. He hit .287/.348/.405 with 9 HR, 52 RBI, 79 R, 21 SB in 126 games.
Third baseman Colin Moran of North Carolina was a Freshman in 2011. In 2012 as a sophomore at North Carolina he hit .365/.434/.494 with 3 HR, 35 RBI, 30 R, 1 SB in 41 games.
Shortstop Brad Miller of Clemson was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the second round in 2011. He split 2012 between Class A Advanced High Desert and Double A Jackson. He hit .339/.412/.524 with 11 HR, 56 RBI, 89 R, 19 SB in 97 games at High Desert and hit .320/.406/.476 with 4 HR, 12 RBI, 21 R, 4 SB in 40 games at Jackson.
Outfielder Jason Krizan of Dallas Baptist was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the eighth round in 2011. He played 2012 at Class A West Michigan. He hit .244/.333/.337 with 4 HR, 40 RBI, 38 R, 5 SB in 110 games.
Outfielder Mikie Mahtook of Louisiana State was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 31st pick of the first round in 2011. He split 2012 between Class A Advanced Charlotte and Double A Montgomery. He hit .290/.358/.419 with 5 HR, 37 RBI, 44 R, 19 SB in 92 games at Charlotte and hit .248/.308/.405 with 4 HR, 25 RBI, 17 R, 4 SB in 39 games.
Outfielder Victor Roache of Georgia Southern was a sophomore in 2011 and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers with the 28th pick of the first round in 2012. He missed most of the first round with a broken wrist.
DH Jake Lowery of James Madison was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the fourth round in 2011. He split 2012 between Class A Lake County and Class A Advanced Carolina. He hit .248/.358/.504 with 7 HR, 28 RBI, 25 R, 1 SB in 39 games at Lake County and hit .222/.315/.325 with 2 HR, 25 RBI, 20 R, 0 SB in 59 games at Carolina.
Utility\LHP Danny Hultzen of Virginia was drafted by the Seattle Mariners with the second pick of the first round in 2011. He split 2012 between Double A Jackson and Triple A Tacoma. He was 8-3 with a 1.19 ERA, 79 K, 0.93 WHIP in 75.1 IP over 13 games at Jackson and was 1-4 with a 5.92 ERA, 57 K, 1.89 WHIP in 48.2 IP over 12 games at Tacoma.
