Brandon Webb retires
Brandon Webb announced his retirement from playing baseball in February 2013. Webb was a RHP with seven seasons MLB experience pitching all with the Diamondbacks. For his MLB career he was 87-62 with a 3.27 ERA, 1065 K, 1.24 WHIP in 1319.2 IP over 199 games. He won the NL Cy Young Award in 2006 as he was 16-8 with a 3.10 ERA, 178 K, 1.13 WHIP in 235.0 IP over 33 games. In 2007 he was 18-10 with a 3.01 ERA, 194 K, 1.19 WHIP in 236.1 IP over 34 games as he finished second in NL Cy Young voting losing to Jake Peavy of the Padres. In 2008 he was 22-7 with a 3.30 ERA, 183 K, 1.20 WHIP in 226.2 IP over 34 games as he finished second in NL Cy Young Voting losing to Tim Lincecum of the Giants. He injured his shoulder on opening day of 2009 and was never able to his comeback the Majors after two surgeries and rehab. Webb was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in the eighth round in 2000 out of the University of Kentucky.
