2012 Where are they now 2007 MLB draft picks 41 to 50

The 2012 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 41 to 50 of the 2007 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Oakland Athletics drafted LHP/1B Sean Doolittle 41st out of Virginia. He missed all of 2010 and most of 2011 with knee injuries. He split 2012 between Class A Advanced Stockton, Double A Midland, Triple A Sacramento and the Athletics. He was 0-0 with a 0.87 ERA, 21 K, 0.68 WHIP in 10.1 IP over 6 games at Stockton, was 0-0 with a 0.82 ERA, 19 K, 0.54 WHIP, 1 SV in 11.0 IP over 8 games at Midland, was 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 8 K, 0.54 WHIP in 3.2 IP over 2 games at Sacramento and was 2-1 with a 3.04 ERA, 60 K, 1.08 WHIP, 1 SV in 47.1 IP over 44 games with the Athletics. 

The New York Mets drafted RHP Eddie Kunz 42nd out of Oregon State. He was traded to the Padres in March 2011. He split 2012 between Double A San Antonio and Triple A Tucson, He was 3-4 with a 5.29 ERA, 27 K, 1.45 WHIP in 47.2 IP over 17 games with San Antonio and was 3-2 with a 6.35 ERA, 12 K, 1.79 WHIP in 39.2 IP over 21 games at Tucson.

The San Francisco Giants drafted catcher Jackson Williams 43rd out of Oklahoma. He played 2012 at Triple A Fresno. He hit .247/.281/.417 with a 11 HR, 40 RBI, 34 R, 0 SB in 86 games.

The Texas Rangers drafted RHP Neil Ramirez 44th out of Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA. He split 2012 between Double A Frisco and Triple A Round Rock. He was 2-5 with a 4.20 ERA, 45 K, 1.28 WHIP in 49.1 IP over 13 games at Frisco and was 6-8 with a 7.66 ERA, 63 K, 1.47 WHIP in 74.0 IP over 15 games at Round Rock.

The Toronto Blue Jays drafted shortstop Justin Jackson 45th out of Roberson High School in Ashville, NC. He split 2012 between Class A Advanced Dunedin and Double A New Hampshire. He hit .212/.286/.270 with 0 HR, 8 RBI, 15 R, 5 SB in 44 games at Dunedin and hit .225/.310/.289 with 0 HR, 15 RBI, 24 R, 11 SB in 66 games at New Hampshire.

The San Diego Padres drafted shortstop Andrew Cumberland 46th out of Pace High School in Pace, FL. He missed the 2011 and 2012 seasons with a neurological condition. He is retired but may attempt a comeback in the future.

The New York Mets drafted LHP Nathan Vineyard 47th out of Woodland High School in Georgia. He retired from baseball after two seasons.

The Chicago Cubs drafted catcher Joshua Donaldson 48th out of Auburn. He was traded to the Athletics in 2008. He split 2012 between Triple A Sacramento and the Athletics. He hit .335/.402/.598 with 13 HR, 45 RBI, 38 R, 5 SB in 51 games at Sacramento and hit .241/.289/.398 with 9 HR, 33 RBI, 34 R, 4 SB in 75 games with the Athletics.

The Washington Nationals drafted outfielder Michael Burgess 49th out of Hillsborough High School in Tampa, FL. He was traded to the Cubs in January 2011. He played 2012 at Double A Tennessee. He hit .259/.350/.422 with 10 HR, 43 RBI, 41 R, 0 SB in 119 games. After the season he was selected by the Astros in the Rule 5 draft.

The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted RHP Wes Roemer 50th out of Cal State Fullerton. He was released by the Diamondbacks in September 2011. He began 2012 pitching for St Paul in the Independent League and was 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA, 18 K, 1.16 WHIP over 27.2 IP over 4 games. He then signed with the Dodgers and pitched at Double A Chattanooga. He was 4-2 with a 2.73 ERA, 46 K, 1.27 WHIP, 1 SV in 52.2 IP over 23 games.
