Michael Morse traded to Mariners in 3 team deal

Michael Morse was traded by the Washington Nationals to the Seattle Mariners on January 16, 2013. The Mariners sent John Jaso to the Oakland Athletics. The Nationals received A. J. Cole, Blake Treinen and a player to be named later from the Athletics.

Morse is an OF/1B/SS with eight seasons MLB experience playing with the Nationals and Mariners. In 2012 he hit .291/.321/.470 with 18 HR, 62 RBI, 53 R, 0 SB in 102 games. For his MLB career he has hit .295/.347/.492 with 70 HR, 245 RBI, 199 R, 6 SB in 485 games. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the third round in 2000. Morse will be 31 on March 22.

Jaso is a catcher with four seasons MLB experience playing with the Mariners and Rays. In 2012 he hit .276/.394/.456 with 10 HR, 50 RBI, 41 R, 5 SB in 108 games. For his MLB career he has hit .255/.359/.395 with 20 HR, 121 RBI, 126 R, 10 SB in 311 games. He was originally drafted by the Rays in the 12th round in 2003. Jaso turned 20 on September 19.

RHP Cole split 2012 between the Athletics Class A team Burlington and Class A Advanced team Stockton. He was 6-3 with a 2.07 ERA, 103 K, 1.01 WHIP in 95.2 IP over 19 games at Burlington and was 0-7 with a 7.82 ERA, 31 K, 1.84 WHIP in 38.0 IP over 8 games at Stockton. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the fourth round in 2010. Cole turned 21 on January 5th.

RHP Treinen pitched in 2012 for the Athletics Class A Advanced team Stockton. He was 7-7 with a 4.37 ERA, 92 K, 1.35 WHIP in 103.0 IP over 24 games. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the seventh round in 2011. Treinen turned 24 on June 30.
