2012 Where are they now 2010 MLB draft picks 11 to 20


The 2012 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 11 to 20 of the 2010 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Toronto Blue Jays drafted RHP Deck McGuire 11th out of the University of Texas-Arlington. He pitched 2012 at Double A New Hampshire. He was 5-15 with a 5.88 ERA, 97 K, 1.56 WHIP in 144.0 IP over 28 games.

The Cincinnati Reds drafted catcher Yasmani Grandal 12th out of Miami. He was traded to the Padres after the 2011 season. He split 2012 between Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore, Triple A Tucson and the Padres. He hit .000/.125/.000 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 R, 0 SB in 2 games at Lake Elsinore, hit .335/.443/.521 with 6 HR, 35 RBI, 40 R, 0 SB in 56 games at Tucson and hit .297/.394/.469 with 8 HR, 36 RBI, 28 R, 0 SB in 60 games with the Padres.

The Chicago White Sox drafted LHP Chris Sale 13th out of Florida Gulf Coast University. He pitched 2012 with the White Sox. He was 17-8 with a 3.05 ERA, 192 K, 1.13 WHIP in 192.0 IP over 30 games.

The Milwaukee Brewers drafted RHP Dylan Covey 14th out of Maranatha High School in California. He went unsigned and enrolled at the University of San Diego.

The Texas Rangers drafted outfielder Jacob Skole 15th out of Blessed Trinity High School in Roswell, GA. He split 2012 between Class A Spokane and Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach. He hit ..229/.426/.286 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 3 SB in 10 games at Spokane and hit .185/.288/.260 with 3 HR, 18 RBI, 18 R, 2 SB in 68 games at Myrtle Beach.

The Chicago Cubs drafted RHP Hayden Simpson 16th out of Southern Arkansas University. He split the 2012 season between Class A Boise and Class A Advanced Daytona, He was 2-4 with a 6.18 ERA, 47 K, 1.67 WHIP, 2 SV in 43.2 IP over 15 games at Boise and was 2-3 with a 6.98 ERA, 16 K, 2.07 WHIP, 1 SV in 14 games at Daytona.

The Tampa Bay Rays drafted outfielder Josh Sale 17th out of Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle, WA. He played 2012 season at Class A Bowling Green. He hit .264/.391/.464 with 10 HR, 44 RBI, 35 R, 7 SB in 74 games.

The Los Angeles Angels drafted third baseman Kaleb Cowart 18th out of Cook High School in Adel, GA. He split 2012 between Class A Cedar Rapids and Class A Advanced Inland Empire. He hit .293/.348/.479 with 9 HR, 54 RBI, 42 R, 9 SB in 66 games at Cedar Rapids and hit .259/.366/.426 with 7 HR, 49 RBI, 48 R, 5 SB in 69 games at Inland Empire.

The Houston Astros drafted RHP Mike Foltynewicz 19th out of Minooka Community High School in Minooka, IL. He pitched 2012 at Class A Lexington. He was 14-4 with a 3.14 ERA, 125 K, 1.36 WHIP in 152.0 IP over 27 games.

The Boston Red Sox drafted second baseman Kolbrin Vitek 20th out of Ball State. He split 2012 between Gulf Coast Rookie, Class A Lowell and Double A Portland. He hit .273/.357/.364 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 4 games at Gulf Coast, hit .250/.250.375 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 2 games at Lowell and hit .242/.284/.339 with 1 HR, 10 RBI, 14 R, 0 SB in 46 games at Portland.
