2012 Where are they now 2008 MLB draft picks 41 to 46
The 2012 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 41 to 46 (which closed out the first round) of the 2008 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.
The Chicago Cubs drafted shortstop Ryan Flaherty 41st out of Vanderbilt. He was selected by the Orioles in the 2011 Rule 5 draft. He split 2012 between Triple A Norfolk and the Orioles. He hit .289/.341/.526 with 2 HR, 3 RBI, 5 R, 0 SB in 9 games at Norfolk and hit .216/.258/.359 with 6 HR, 19 RBI, 15 R, 1 SB in 77 games with the Orioles.
The San Diego Padres drafted outfielder Jaff Decker 42nd out of Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria, AZ. He split 2012 between Rookie Arizona and Double A San Antonio. He hit .296/.394/.593 with 1 HR, 7 RBI, 5 R, 0 SB in 9 games at Arizona and hit .184/.365/.293 with 3 HR, 9 RBI, 30 R, 6 SB in 47 games at San Antonio. He continued his injury prone ways and spent much of the season on the DL.
The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted LHP Wade Miley 43rd out of Southeastern Louisiana University. He 2012 with the Diamondbacks. He was 16-11 with a 3.33 ERA, 144 K, 1.18 WHIP in 194.2 IP over 32 games.
The New York Yankees drafted LHP Jeremy Bleich 44th out of Stanford. He split 2012 between Rookie Gulf Coast, Class A Staten Island and Class A Advanced Tampa. He was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 7 K, 0.71 WHIP in 5.2 IP over 3 games at Gulf Coast, was 0-0 with a 2.53 ERA, 7 K, 0.94 WHIP in 10.2 IP over 5 games at Staten Island and was 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA, 10 K, 1.53 WHIP in 16.1 IP over 8 games at Tampa.
The Boston Red Sox drafted RHP Bryan Price 45th out of Rice. He was traded to the Indians in 2009. He split 2012 between Double A Akron and Triple A Columbus. He was 2-3 with a 3.02 ERA, 46 K, 1.10 WHIP, 4 SV in 50.2 IP over 27 games at Akron and was 0-1 with a 6.63 ERA, 17 K, 2.05 WHIP in 19.0 IP over 13 games at Columbus.
The San Diego Padres drafted third baseman John Logan Forsythe 46th out of Arkansas-Fayetteville. He split 2011 between Triple A Tucson and the Padres.
