2012 Where are they now 2011 MLB draft picks 11 to 20

The 2012 season is behind us and I'm checking how picks 11 to 20 of the 2011 draft did this season. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Houston Astros drafted outfielder George Springer 11th out of Connecticut. He split 2012 between Class A Advanced Lancaster and Double A Corpus Christi. He hit .316/.398/.557 with 22 HR, 82 RBI, 101 R, 28 SB in 106 games at Lancaster and hit .219/.288/.342 with 2 HR, 5 RBI, 8 R, 4 SB in 22 games at Corpus Christi.

The Milwaukee Brewers drafted RHP Taylor Jungmann 12th out of Texas. He pitched 2012 at Class A Advanced Brevard County. He was 11-6 with a 3.53 ERA, 99 K, 1.34 WHIP in 153.0 IP over 26 games.

The New York Mets drafted outfielder Brandon Nimmo 13th out of Cheyenne East High School in Cheyenne, WY. He played 2012 at Class A Brooklyn. He hit .248/.372/.406 with 6 HR, 40 RBI, 41 R, 1 SB in 69 games.

The Florida Marlins drafted RHP Jose Fernandez 14th out of Braulino Alonso High School in Tampa, FL. He split 2012 between Class A Greensboro and Class A Advanced Jupiter. He was 7-0 with a 1.59 ERA, 99 K, 0.87 WHIP in 79.0 IP over 14 games at Greensboro and was 7-1 with a 1.96 ERA, 59 K, 1.00 WHIP in 55.0 IP over 11 games at Jupiter.

The Milwaukee Brewers drafted LHP Jed Bradley 15th out of Georgia Tech. He pitched 2012 at Class A Advanced Brevard County. He was 5-10 with a 5.53 ERA, 60 K, 1.67 WHIP in 107.1 IP over 20 games.

The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted LHP Chris Reed 16th out of Stanford. He split 2012 between Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga and Double A Chattanooga. He was 1-4 with a 3.09 ERA. 38 K, 1.11 WHIP in 35.0 IP over 7 games at Rancho Cucamonga and was 0-4 with a 4.84 ERA, 29 K, 1.44 WHIP in 35.1 IP over 12 games at Chattanooga.

The Los Angeles Angels drafted first baseman C J Cron 17th out of Utah. He played 2012 at Class A Advanced Inland Empire. He hit .293/.327/.516 with 27 HR, 123 RBI, 73 R, 3 SB in 129 games.

The Oakland Athletics drafted RHP Sonny Gray 18th out of Vanderbilt. He split 2012 between Double A Midland and Triple A Sacramento. He was 6-9 with a 4.14 ERA, 97 K, 1.38 WHIP in 148.0 IP over 26 games at Midland and was 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA, 2 K, 2.75 WHIP in 4.0 IP in 1 game at Sacramento.

The Boston Red Sox drafted RHP Matt Barnes 19th out of Connecticut. He split 2012 between Class A Greenville and Class A Advanced Salem. He was 2-0 with a 0.34 ERA, 42 K, 0.60 WHIP in 26.2 IP over 5 games at Greenville and was 5-5 with a 3.58 ERA, 91 K, 1.18 WHIP in 93.0 IP over 20 games at Salem.

The Colorado Rockies drafted LHP Tyler Anderson 20th out of Oregon. He pitched 2012 at Class A Asheville. He was 12-3 with a 2.47 ERA, 81 K, 1.08 WHIP in 120.1 IP over 20 games.
