Jed Lowrie traded to Athletics

Jed Lowrie was traded by the Houston Astros to the Oakland Athletics on February 4, 2013 along with Fernando Rodriguez. In exchange the Astros received Chris Carter, Brad Peacock and Max Stassi.

Lowrie is a SS\3B with five seasons MLB experience playing with the Astros and Red Sox. In 2012 he hit .244/.331/.438 with 16 HR, 42 RBI, 43 R, 2 SB in 97 games with the Astros. For his MLB career he has hit .250/.326/.417 with 35 HR, 159 RBI, 153 R, 5 SB in 353 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox with the 45th pick of the first round in 2005. Lowrie will be 29 on April 17.

RHP Rodriguez has three seasons MLB experience with the Astros and Angels. In 2012 he was 2-10 with a 5.37 ERA, 78 K, 1.45 WHIP in 70.1 IP over 71 games with the Astros. For his MLB career he is 4-13 with a 4.89 ERA, 136 K, 1.51 WHIP in 123.1 IP over 119 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 18th round in 2003. Rodriguez will be 29 on June 18.

Carter is a 1B\OF with three seasons MLB experience all with the Athletics. He split 2012 between Triple A Sacramento and the Athletics and hit .279/.367/.486 with 12 HR, 53 RBI, 48 R, 5 SB in 72 games at Sacramento and hit .239/.350/.514 with 16 HR, 39 RBI, 38 R, 0 SB in 67 games with the Athletics. For his MLB career he has hit .214/.310/.425 with 19 HR, 46 RBI, 48 R, 1 SB in 106 games. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the 15th round in 2005. Carter turned 26 on December 18.

RHP Peacock pitched 2012 at Triple A Sacramento and was 12-9 with a 6.01 ERA, 139 K, 1.58 WHIP in 134.2 IP over 28 games. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the fourth round in 2006. Peacock turned 25 on February 2nd.

Stassi is a catcher who played 2012 at Class A Advanced Stockton. He hit .268/.331/.468 with 15 HR, 45 RBI, 48 R, 3 SB in 84 games. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the fourth round in 2009. Stassi will turn 22 on March 15.
