The rosters have been revealed for the 2016 Futures Game to be played on July 10 at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the pitchers on the US team.
LHP Anthony Banda has split 2016 between Double A Mobile and Triple A Reno of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was 6-2, 2.12 ERA, 84 K, 1.28 WHIP, .241 BAA in 76.1 IP over 13 games at Mobile and 0-2, 9.00 ERA, 8 K, 2.22 WHIP, .386 BAA in 9.0 IP over 2 games at Reno. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the 10th round in 2012 and was traded to the Diamondbacks in 2014. Banda was born in Corpus Christi, TX and will be 23 on August 10.
RHP Phil Bickford has split 2016 between Class A Augusta and Class A Advanced San Jose of the San Francisco Giants. He was 3-4, 2.70 ERA, 69 K, 1.07 WHIP, .220 BAA in 60.0 IP over 11 games at Augusta and 1-0, 1.64 ERA, 20 K, 0.55 WHIP, .086 BAA in 11.0 IP over 2 games at San Jose. He was originally drafted by the Giants with the 10th pick of the first round in 2015. Bickford was born in Ventura, CA and will be 21 on July 10.
RHP J.T. Chargois has split 2016 between Double A Chattanooga and Triple A Rochester of the Minnesota Twins. He was 0-0, 1.54 ERA, 14 K, 1.11 WHIP, .190 BAA, 7 SV in 11.2 IP over 11 games at Chattanooga and 2-0, 0.84 ERA, 28 K, 0.94 WHIP, .190 BAA, 5 SV in 21.1 IP over 18 games at Rochester. He was originally drafted by the Twins in the second round in 2012. Chargois was born in Sulphur, LA and turned 25 on December 3rd.
RHP Carson Fulmer has pitched at Double A Birmingham of the Chicago White Sox. He was 4-8, 4.83 ERA, 80 K, 1.52 WHIP, .248 BAA in 82.0 IP over 16 games. He was originally drafted by the White Sox with the eighth pick of the first round in 2015. Fulmer was born in Lakeland, FL and turned 22 on December 13.
LHP Amir Garrett has split 2016 between Double A Pensacola and Triple A Louisville of the Cincinnati Reds. He was 5-3, 1.75 ERA, 78 K, 1.03 WHIP, .184 BAA in 77.0 IP over 13 games at Pensacola and 0-1, 2.13 ERA, 9 K, 1.03 WHIP, .128 BAA in 12.2 IP over 2 games at Louisville. He was originally drafted by the Reds in the 22nd round in 2011. Garrett was born in Victorville, CA and turned 24 on May 3rd.
LHP Josh Hader has split 2016 between Double A Biloxi and Triple A Colorado Springs of the Milwaukee Brewers. He was 2-1, 0.95 ERA, 73 K, 1.00 WHIP, .194 BAA in 57.0 IP over 11 games at Biloxi and 0-2, 4.50 ERA, 26 K, 1.50 WHIP, .264 BAA in 20.0 IP over 4 games at Colorado Springs. He was originally drafted by the Orioles in the 19th round in 2012, was traded to the Astros in 2013 and traded to the Brewers in 2015 . Hader was born in Millersville, MD and turned 22 on April 7th.
RHP Jeff Hoffman has pitched at Triple Al Albuquerque of the Colorado Rockies. He was 4-6, 3.46 ERA, 94 K, 1.28 WHIP, .252 BAA in 93.2 IP over 16 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays with the ninth pick of the first round in 2014 and was traded to the Rockies in 2015. Hoffman was born in Latham, NY and turned 23 on January 8th.
RHP Joe Musgrove has split 2016 between Double A Corpus Christi and Triple A Fresno of the Houston Astros. He was 2-1, 0.34 ERA, 30 K, 0.84 WHIP, .192 BAA in 26.1 IP over 6 games at Corpus Christi and 3-3, 4.73 ERA, 35 K, 1.23 WHIP, .274 BAA in 40.0 IP over 7 games at Fresno. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays with the 46th pick of the first round in 2011 and was traded to the Astros in 2012. Musgrove was born in El Cajon, CA and turned 23 on December 4th.
LHP Nate Smith has pitched at Triple A Salt Lake of the Los Angeles Angels. He was 5-3, 3.81 ERA, 72 K, 1.30 WHIP, .272 BAA in 89.2 IP over 15 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the eighth round in 2013 . Smith was born in Spokane, WA and will be 25 on August 28.
RHP Ryne Stanek has pitched at Double A Montgomery of the Tampa Bay Rays. He was 2-6, 3.79 ERA, 91 K, 1.26 WHIP, .227 BAA, 2 SV in 78.1 IP over 18 games with 11 GS. He was originally drafted by the Rays with the 29th pick of the first round in 2013. Stankek was born in St Louis, MO and will be 25 on July 26.
