Drew Storen traded to Mariners

Drew Storen was traded by the Toronto Blue Jays to the Seattle Mariners on July 26, 2016 with cash. The Blue Jays in exchange received Joaquin Benoit.

RHP Storen was 1-3, 6.21 ERA, 32 K, 1.59 WHIP, .309 BAA, 3 SV in 33.1 IP over 38 games with the Blue Jays in 2016. Over seven MLB seasons with the Blue Jays and Nationals he was 22-16, 3.31 ERA, 353 K, 1.17 WHIP, .236 BAA, 98 SV in 367.1 IP over 393 games. He was originally drafted by the Nationals with the 10th pick of the first round in 2009. Storen will be 29 on August 11.

RHP Benoit was 1-1, 5.18 ERA, 28 K, 1.44 WHIP, .215 BAA in 24.1 IP over 26 games with the Mariners in 2016. Over 15 MLB seasons with the Mariners, Padres, Tigers, Rays and Rangers he was 55-43, 3.87 ERA, 988 K, 1.24 WHIP, .223 BAA, 50 SV in 994.2 IP over 687 games with 55 GS. He originally signed with the Rangers in 1996 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Benoit turned 39 on July 26.
