Aroldis Chapman was traded by the New York Yankees to the Chicago Cubs on July 25, 2016. The Yankees in exchange received Adam Warren, Gleyber Torres, Billy McKinney and Rashad Crawford.
LHP Chapman was 3-0, 2.01 ERA. 44 K, 0.89 WHIP, .179 BAA, 20 SV in 31.1 IP over 31 games with the Yankees in 2016. Over seven MLB seasons with the Yankees and Reds he was 22-20, 2.16 ERA, 590 K, 1.01 WHIP, .157 BAA, 166 SV in 350.1 IP over 355 games. He originally signed with the Reds in 2010 out of Cuba and was traded to the Yankees in 2015. Chapman turned 28 on February 28.
RHP Warren had split 2016 between Triple A Iowa and the Cubs. He was 0-0, 4.15 ERA, 6 K, 1.15 WHIP, .207 BAA in 8.2 IP over 2 games at Iowa and 3-2, 5.91 ERA, 27 K, 1.43 WHIP, .238 BAA in 35.0 IP over 29 games with 1 GS with the Cubs. Over five MLB seasons with the Cubs and Yankees he is 16-17, 3.66 ERA, 272 K, 1.26 WHIP, .243 BAA, 5 SV in 324.1 IP over 176 games with 21 GS. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the fourth round in 2009 and was traded to the Cubs in 2015. Warren will be 29 on August 25.
Torres is a shortstop who hit .275/.359/.433 with 9 HR, 47 RBI, 62 R, 19 SB in 94 games at Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach in 2016. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Torres turned 19 on December 13.
McKinney is an outfielder who hit .252/.355/.322 with 1 HR, 31 RBI, 37 R, 2 SB in 88 games at Double A Tennessee in 2016. He was originally drafted by the Athletics with the 24th pick of the first round in 2013 and traded to the Cubs in 2014. McKinney will be 22 on August 23.
Crawford is an outfielder who hit .255/.327/.386 with 3 HR, 30 RBI, 59 R, 22 SB in 83 games at Myrtle Beach in 2016. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 11th round in 2012. Crawford will be 23 on October 15.
