Tyler Clippard traded to Yankees

Tyler Clippard was traded by the Arizona Diamondbacks to the New York Yankees on July 31, 2016. The Diamondbacks in exchange received Vicente Campos.

RHP Clippard was 2-3, 4.30 ERA, 46 K, 1.30 WHIP, .245 BAA, 1 SV in 37.2 IP over 40 games with the Diamondbacks in 2016. Over 10 MLB seasons with the Diamondbacks, Mets, Athletics, Nationals and Yankees he was 44-32, 2.97 ERA, 658 K, 1.10 WHIP, .194 BAA, 54 SV in 599.2 IP over 529 games with 8 GS. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the ninth round in 2003. Clippard turned 31 on February 14.

RHP Campos split 2016 between Class A Advanced Tampa, Double A Trenton and Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He was 4-2, 3.49 ERA, 56 K, 1.23 WHIP, .235 BAA in 59.1 IP over 10 games at Tampa, 5-1, 3.02 ERA, 48 K, 1.04 WHIP, .220 BAA in 56.2 IP over 9 games at Trenton and 0-0, 1.80 ERA, 1 K, 1.80 WHIP, .400 BAA in 5.0 IP in 1 game at SWB. He originally signed with the Mariners in 2009 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela and was traded to the Yankees in 2012. Campos turned 24 on July 27.
