Drew Pomeranz traded to the Red Sox

Drew Pomeranz was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Boston Red Sox on July 14, 2016. The Padres in exchange received Anderson Espinoza. 

LHP Pomeranz was 8-7, 2.47 ERA, 115 K, 1.06 WHIP, .184 BAA in 102.0 IP over 17 games with the Padres in 2016. Over six MLB seasons with the Padres, Athletics and Rockies he was 22-31, 3.66 ERA, 376 K, 1.27 WHIP, .227 BAA, 3 SV in 393.2 IP over 124 games with 66 GS. He was originally drafted by the Indians with the fifth pick of the first round in 2010, was traded to the Rockies in 2011, traded to the Athletics in 2013 and traded to the Padres in 2015. Pomeranz turned 27 on November 22.

RHP Espinoza was 5-8, 4.38 ERA, 72 K, 1.37 WHIP, .269 BAA in 76.0 IP over 17 games at Class A Greenville in 2016. He originally signed with the Red Sox in 2014 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Espinoza turned 18 on March 9th.
