Michael Martinez traded to Red Sox

Michael Martinez was traded by the Cleveland Indians to the Boston Red Sox on July 8, 2016 for cash. The OF\2B\3B had split 2016 between Triple A Columbus and the Indians. He hit .288/.351/.442 with 2 HR, 12 RBI, 12 R, 2 SB in 27 games at Columbus and .283/.306/.383 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 10 R, 0 SB in 32 games with the Indians. Over six MLB seasons with the Indians, Pirates and Phillies he hit .199/.244/.272 with 6 HR, 41 RBI, 59 R, 4 SB in 236 games. He originally signed with the Nationals in 2005 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Martinez will be 34 on September 16.
