Matt Kemp traded to Braves

Matt Kemp was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Atlanta Braves on July 30, 2016. The Padres in exchange received Hector Olivera.

Kemp is an outfielder who hit .262/.285/.489 with 23 HR, 69 RBI, 54 R, 0 SB in 100 games with the Padres in 2016. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Padres and Dodgers he hit .286/.340/.489 with 228 HR, 817 RBI, 784 R, 182 SB in 1370 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round in 2003 and was traded to the Padres in 2014. Kemp will be 32 on September 23.

Olivers is an outfielder who split 2016 between Rookie Gulf Coast, Triple A Gwinnett and the Braves before being suspended for violating the MLB domestic violence policy. He hit 5 for 7, .714/.800/1.286 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB at Gulf Coast, 4 for 35, .114/.135/.143 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 9 games at Gwinnett and 4 for 19, .211/.238/.263 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 6 games with the Braves. Over two MLB seasons with the Braves he hit .245/.296/.378 with 2 HR, 13 RBI, 6 R, 0 SB in 30 games. He originally signed with the Dodgers in May 2015 as an amateur free agent out of Cuba and was traded to the Braves in July 2015. Olivera turned 31 on April 5th.
