Eric Jokisch traded to Rangers

Eric Jokisch was traded by the Miami Marlins to the Texas Rangers on July 8, 2016. The Marlins in exchange received Pedro Ciriaco.

LHP Jokisch had split 2016 between Triple A Iowa, Double A Jacksonville and Triple A New Orleans. He was 0-1, 16.62 ERA, 3 K, 3.00 WHIP, .500 BAA in 4.1 IP in 1 game at Iowa when the Marlins claimed him off waivers on April 13. Then he was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 K, 0.50 WHIP, .143 BAA in 4.0 IP in 1 game at Jacksonville and 2-0, 2.64 ERA, 19 K, 1.53 WHIP, .277 BAA, 1 SV in 30.2 IP over 18 games at New Orleans. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 11th round in 2010. Jokisch will be 27 on July 29.

Ciriaco is a 3B\SS\2B who hit .268/.297/.320 with 1 HR, 18 RBI, 14 R, 6 SB in 51 games at Triple A Red Rock in 2016. Over six MLB seasons with the Braves, Royals, Padres, Red Sox and Pirates he hit .268/.294/.368 with 5 HR, 51 RBI, 70 R, 35 SB in 272 games. He originally signed with the Diamondbacks in 2003 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Ciriaco will be 31 on September 27.
