Futures Game 2016 World Team Catchers

The rosters have been revealed for the 2016 Futures Game to be played on July 10 at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the catchers on the World team.

Francisco Mejia is a switch hitting catcher who has split 2016 between Class A Lake County and Class A Advanced Lynchburg of the Cleveland Indians. He hit .347/.384/.531 with 7 HR, 51 RBI, 41 R, 1 SB in 60 games at Lake County and 4 for 13, .308/.286/.462 with 0 HR, 3 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 3 games at Lynchburg. He originally signed with the Indians in 2012 as an amateur free agent. Mejia was born in Bani, Dominican Republic and will be 21 on October 27.

Gary Sanchez is a right-handed catcher at Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the New York Yankees. He hit .280/.320/.481 with 8 HR, 32 RBI, 27 R, 3 SB in 50 games. He originally signed with the Yankees in 2009 as an amateur free agent. Sanchez was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and turned 23 on December 2nd.
