The rosters have been revealed for the 2016 Futures Game to be played on July 10 at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the infielders on the World team.
Willy Adames is a right handed shortstop at Double A Montgomery of the Tampa Bay Rays. He has hit .268/.362/.460 with 8 HR, 35 RBI, 51 R, 9 SB in 74 games. He originally signed with the Tigers in 2012 as an amateur free agent and was traded to the Rays in 2014. Adames was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic and will be 21 on September 2nd.
Carlos Asuaje is a right hand throwing and left hand hitting third baseman at Triple A El Paso of the San Diego Padres. He has hit .321/.385/.460 with 4 HR, 39 RBI, 59 R, 7 SB in 76 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the 11th round in 2013 and was traded to the Padres in 2015. Asuaje was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela and turned 24 on November 2nd.
Jeimer Candelario is a switch hitting third baseman who has split 2016 between Double A Tennessee and Triple A Iowa of the Chicago Cubs. He has hit .219/.324/.367 with 4 HR, 23 RBI, 30 R, 0 SB in 56 games at Tennessee and .347/.467/.625 with 3 HR, 15 RBI, 12 R, 0 SB in 24 games at Iowa. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2010 as an amateur free agent. Candelario was born in New York, NY but grew up in the Dominican Republic and turned 22 on November 24.
Ronald Guzman is a left handed first baseman at Double A Frisco of the Texas Rangers. He has hit .291/.351/.485 with 10 HR, 34 RBI, 36 R, 0 SB in 74 games. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2011 as an amateur free agent. Guzman was born in La Vega, Dominican Republic and will be 22 on October 20.
Dilson Herrera is a right handed second baseman at Triple A Las Vegas of the New York Mets. He has hit .274/.319/.466 with 11 HR, 44 RBI, 53 R, 6 SB in 70 games. He originally signed with the Pirates in 2010 as an amateur free agent and was traded to the Mets in 2013. Herrera was born in Cartagena, Columbia and turned 22 on March 3rd.
Jorge Mateo is a right handed shortstop at Class A Advanced Tampa of the New York Yankees. He has hit .260/.319/.394 with 5 HR, 34 RBI, 45 R, 26 SB in 72 games. He originally signed with the Yankees in 2012 as an amateur free agent. Herrera was born in Santo Domingo Oeste, Dominican Republic and turned 21 on June 23.
Yoan Moncada is a switch hitting second baseman who has split 2016 between Class A Advanced Salem and Double A Portland of the Boston Red Sox. He has hit .307/.427/.496 with 4 HR, 34 RBI, 57 R, 36 SB in 61 games at Salem and .273/.289/.500 with 2 HR, 9 RBI, 8 R, 1 SB in 10 games at Portland. He originally signed with the Red Sox in 2015 as an amateur free agent. . Moncada was born in Abreus, Cuba and turned 21 on May 27.
Josh Naylor is a left handed first baseman at Class A Greensboro of the Miami Marlins. He has hit .258/.316/.442 with 9 HR, 45 RBI, 33 R, 9 SB in 67 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins with the 12th pick of the first round in 2015. Naylor was born in Missassauga, Ontario, Canada and turned 19 on June 22.
