The rosters have been revealed for the 2016 Futures Game to be played on July 10 at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the pitchers on the World team.
RHP Jharel Cotton has pitched at Triple A Oklahoma City of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was 7-4, 4.58 ERA, 91 K, 1.13 WHIP, .209 BAA in 74.2 IP over 18 games with 12 GS. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 20th round in 2012. Cotton was born in St Thomas, VI and turned 24 on January 19.
RHP Chih-Wei Hu has split 2016 between Double A Montgomery and Triple A Durham of the Tampa Bay Rays. He was 2-5, 2.26 ERA, 68 K, 1.23 WHIP, .253 BAA in 79.2 IP over 14 games at Montgomery and 0-1, 7.71 ERA, 7 K, 1.93 WHIP, .350 BAA in 4.2 IP in 1 game at Durham. He originally signed with the Twins in 2012 as an amateur free agent and was traded to the Rays in 2015. Hu was born in Taiching, Taiwan and turned 22 on November 4th.
RHP Joe Jimenez has split 2016 between Class A Advanced Lakeland and Double A Erie of the Detroit Tigers. He was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 28 K, 0.58 WHIP, .089 BAA, 10 SV in 17.1 IP over 17 games at Lakeland and 3-0, 0.75 ERA, 23 K, 0.83 WHIP, .171 BAA, 6 SV in 12.0 IP over 12 games at Erie. He originally signed with the Tigers in 2013 as an undrafted free agent. Jimenez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and turned 21 on January 17.
RHP Reynaldo Lopez has split 2016 between Double A Harrisburg and Triple A Syracuse of the Washington Nationals. He was 3-5, 3.18 ERA, 100 K, 1.23 WHIP, .235 BAA in 76.1 IP over 14 games at Harrisburg and 0-0, 1.50 ERA, 4 K, 1.17 WHIP, .158 BAA in 6.0 IP in 1 game at Syracuse. He originally signed with the Nationals in 2012 as an amateur free agent. Lopez was born in San Pedro De Macoris, Dominican Republic and turned 22 on January 4th.
LHP Adalberto Mejia has split 2016 between Double A Richmond and Triple A Sacramento of the San Francisco Giants. He was 3-2, 1.94 ERA, 58 K, 0.98 WHIP, .203 BAA in 65.0 IP over 11 games at Richmond and 1-0, 5.71 ERA, 18 K, 1.44 WHIP, .292 BAA in 17.1 IP over 3 games at Sacramento. He originally signed with the Giants in 2011 as an amateur free agent. Mejia was born in San Bonao, Dominican Republic and turned 23 on June 20.
RHP Dovydas Neverauskas has split 2016 between Double A Altoona Triple A Indianapolis of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was 1-0, 2.57 ERA, 32 K, 0.82 WHIP, .129 BAA, 1 SV in 28.0 IP over 22 games and 0-1, 2.70 ERA, 2 K, 1.50 WHIP, .333 BAA, 2 SV in 6.2 IP over 7 games at Indianapolis. He originally signed with the Pirates in 2009 as an amateur free agent. Neverauskas was born in Vilnius, Lithuania and turned 23 on January 14.
RHP Ricardo Pinto has pitched at Double A Reading of the Philadelphia Phillies. He was 3-3, 4.43 ERA, 65 K, 1.31 WHIP, .268 BAA in 91.1 IP over 16 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 20th round in 2012. He originally signed with the Phillies in 2011 as an amateur free agent. Pinto was born in Guacara Carabobo, Venezuela and turned 22 on January 20.
RHP Alex Reyes has pitched at Triple A Memphis of the St Louis Cardinals. He was 2-1, 4.93 ERA, 52 K, 1.47 WHIP, .243 BAA in 34.2 IP over 8 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 20th round in 2012. He originally signed with the Cardinals in 2012 as an amateur free agent. He was born in and grew up near Elizabeth, NJ and his family is from the Dominican Republic and decided to move back there in 2011. The move allowed Reyes to work on his baseball year round before his signing. Reyes will be 22 on August 29.
RHP Francisco Rios has split 2016 between Class A Lansing and Class A Advanced Dunedin of the Toronto Blue Jays. He was 2-0 1.20 ERA, 43 K, 0.97 WHIP, .193 BAA in 30.0 IP over 6 games at Lansing and 4-3, 2.51 ERA, 38 K, 1.13 WHIP, .243 BAA in 57.1 IP over 9 games at Dunedin. He originally signed with the Blue Jays in 2012 as an amateur free agent. Rios was born in Monclova, Mexico and turned 21 on May 6th.
RHP Dylan Unsworth has pitched at Double A Jackson of the Seattle Mariners. He was 3-1, 1.16 ERA, 35 K, 1.05 WHIP, .241 BAA in 46.2 IP over 9 games. He originally signed with the Mariners in 2009 as an amateur free agent. Unsworth was born in Durban, South Africa and will be 24 on September 23. Will be unable to play due to injury.
LHP Angel Perdomo has pitched at Class A Lansing of the Toronto Blue Jays. He was 2-2, 2.48 ERA, 87 K, 1.06 WHIP, .170 BAA, 1 SV in 65.1 IP over 14 games with 12 GS. He originally signed with the Blue Jays in 2011 as an amateur free agent. Perdomo was born in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic and turned 22 on May 7th. He replaces Unsworth on the roster.
