Carlos Gomez traded to Astros

Carlos Gomez was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Houston Astros on July 30, 2015 along with Mike Fiers and an international bonus slot. The Brewers in return received Adrian Houser, Brett Phillips, Domingo Santana and Josh Hader.

Gomez is an outfielder who hit .262/.328/.423 with 8 HR, 43 RBI, 42 R, 7 SB in 74 games with the Brewers in 2015. Over nine MLB seasons with the Brewers, Twins and Mets he hit .260/.315/.420 with 99 HR, 387 RBI, 508 R, 211 SB in 1045 games. He originally signed with the Mets in 2002 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Gomez turned 29 on December 4th.

RHP Fiers was 5-9, 3.89 ERA, 121 K, 1.36 WHIP, .259 BAA in 118.0 IP over 21 games with the Brewers in 2015. Over five MLB seasons with the Brewers he was 21-28, 3.66 ERA, 349 K, 1.24 WHIP, .245 BAA in 341.2 IP over 71 games with 56 GS. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the 22nd round in 2009. Fiers turned 30 on June 15.

RHP Houser had split 2015 between Class A Advanced Lancaster and Double A Corpus Christi. He was 2-2, 4.35 ERA, 55 K, 1.37 WHIP, .254 BAA in 49.2 IP over 12 games at Lancaster with 8 GS and 1-2, 6.21 ERA, 23 K, 1.62 WHIP, .293 BAA in 33.1 IP over 7 games at Corpus Christi with 5 GS. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the second round in 2011. Houser turned 22 on February 2nd.

Phillips is an outfielder who had split 2015 between Lancaster and Corpus Christi. He hit .320/.379/.588 with 15 HR, 53 RBI, 68 R, 8 SB in 66 games at Lancaster and .321/.372/.463 with 1 HR, 18 RBI, 22 R, 7 SB in 31 games at Corpus Christi. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the sixth round in 2012. Phillips turned 21 on May 30.

Santana is an outfielder who had split 2015 between Triple A Fresno and the Astros. He hit .320/.426/.582 with 16 HR, 59 RBI, 62 R, 1 SB in 75 games at Fresno and .256/.310/.462 with 2 HR, 8 RBI, 6 R, 2 SB in 14 games with the Astros. Over two MLB seasons with the Astros he hit .179/.233/.321 with 2 HR, 8 RBI, 7 R, 2 SB in 20 games. He originally signed with the Phillies in 2009 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic and was traded to the Astros in 2011. Santana will be 23 on August 5th.

LHP Hader pitched at Corpus Christi where he was 3-3, 3.17 ERA, 69 K, 1.29 WHIP, .237 BAA, 1 SV in 65.1 IP over 17 games with 10 GS. He was originally drafted by the Orioles in the 19th round in 2012 and was traded to the Astros in 2013. Hader turned 21 on April 7th.
