Rafael Lopez traded to Angels

Rafael Lopez was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Los Angeles Angels on July 3, 2015. The Cubs in exchange received Manuel Rondon and an international bonus slot.

Lopez is a catcher who was at Triple A Iowa where he hit .276/.333/.340 with 0 HR, 17 RBI, 14 R, 3 SB in 46 games. He did have a brief stint with the MLB Cubs in 2014 where he hit .182/.286/.182 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 0 R, 0 SB in 7 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 16th round in 2011. Lopez will be 28 on October 2nd.

LHP Rondon pitched at Rookie Arizona where he was 1-1, 8.64 ERA, 7 K, 2.04 WHIP, .342 BAA in 8.1 IP over 2 games. He originally signed with the Angels in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Rondon turned 20 on March 7th.
