Joakim Soria traded to Pirates

Joakim Soria was traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 30, 2015. The Tigers in exchange received JaCoby Jones.

RHP Soria was 3-1, 2.85 ERA, 36 K, 1.05 WHIP, .212 BAA, 23 SV in 41.0 IP over 43 games with the Tigers in 2015. Over eight seasons with the Tigers, Rangers and Royals he was 19-20, 2.61 ERA, 453 K, 1.06 WHIP, .211 BAA, 201 SV in 424.1 IP over 415 games. He originally signed with the Dodgers in 2001 as an amateur free agent out of Mexico. Soria turned 31 on May 18.

Jones is a shortstop who had split 2015 between Class A Advanced Bradenton and Double A Altoona. He hit .253/.313/.396 with 10 HR, 58 RBI, 48 R, 14 SB in 93 games at Bradenton and .500/.545/.500 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 SB in 3 games at Altoona. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the third round in 2013. Jones turned 23 on May 10.
