Joe Blanton was traded by the Kansas City Royals to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 29, 2015 in exchange for cash. The RHP had split 2015 between Triple A Omaha and the Royals. He was originally drafted by the Athletics with the 24th pick of the first round in 2002. Blanton turned 34 on December 11.
