Kelly Johnson was traded by the Atlanta Braves to the New York Mets on July 24, 2015 along with Juan Uribe and cash. The Braves in exchange received John Gant and Rob Whalen.
Johnson is an OF\1B\3B who hit .275/.321/.451 with 9 HR, 34 RBI, 20 R, 1 SB in 62 games with the Braves. It had been his second stint with the Braves where he started his MLB career. Over 10 MLB seasons with the Braves, Orioles, Red Sox, Rays, Blue Jays and Diamondbacks he has hit .251/.332/.424 with 140 HR, 503 RBI, 589 R, 82 SB in 1219 games. He was originally drafted by the Braves with the 38th pick of the first round in 2000. Johnson turned 33 on February 22.
Uribe is a third baseman who hit .285/.353/.464 with 7 HR, 17 RBI, 17 R, 1 SB in 46 games with the Braves after being traded from the Dodgers in May 2015. Over 15 MLB seasons with the Braves, Dodgers, Giants, White Sox and Rockies he has now hit .257/.303/.421 with 186 HR, 771 RBI, 688 R, 48 SB in 1709 games. He originally signed with the Rockies in 1997 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Uribe turned 36 on March 22.
RHP Gant split 2015 between Class A Advanced St Lucie and Double A Binghamton, He was 2-0, 1.79 ERA, 48 K, 0.92 WHIP, .180 BAA in 40.1 IP over 6 games at St Lucie and 4-5, 4.70 ERA, 43 K, 1.57 WHIP, .289 BAA in 59.1 IP over 11 games at Binghamton. He was originally drafted by the Mets in the 21st round in 2011. Gant will be 23 on August 6th.
RHP Whalen pitched at St Lucie where he was 4-5, 3.36 ERA, 61 K, 1.28 WHIP, .231 BAA in 83.0 IP over 15 games. He was originally drafted by the Mets in the 12th round in 2012. Whalen turned 21 on January 31.
