Jonathan Papelbon traded to Nationals

Jonathan Papelbon was traded by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Washington Nationals on July 28, 2015 along with Cash. The Phillies in exchange received Nick Pivetta.

RHP Papelbon was 2-1, 1.59 ERA, 40 K, 0.98 WHIP, .211 BAA, 17 SV in 39.2 IP over 37 games with the Phillies in 2015. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Phillies and Red Sox he is 37-30, 2.32 ERA, 761 K, 1.02 WHIP, .209 BAA, 342 SV in 667.0 IP over 630 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the fourth round in 2003. Papelbon turned 34 on November 23.

RHP Pivetta had split 2015 between Class A Advanced Potomac and Double A Harrisburg. He was 7-4, 2.29 ERA, 72 K, 1.15 WHIP, .225 BAA in 86.1 IP over 15 games at Potomac and 0-2, 7.20 ERA, 6 K, 1.87 WHIP, .311 BAA in 15.0 IP over 3 games at Harrisburg. He was originally drafted by the Nationals in the fourth round in 2013. Pivetta turned 22 on February 14.
