David Murphy traded to Angels

David Murphy was traded by the Cleveland Indians to the Los Angeles Angels on July 28, 2015. The Indians in exchange received Eric Stamets.

Murphy is an outfielder who hit .296/.344/.437 with 5 HR, 27 RBI, 22 R, 0 SB in 84 games with the Indians in 2015. Over 10 MLB seasons with the Indians, Rangers and Red Sox he has hit .274/.335/.433 with 99 HR, 449 RBI, 424 R, 54 SB in 1062 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox with the 17th pick of the first round in 2003. Murphy will be 34 on October 18.

Stamets is a shortstop who played at Double A Arkansas where he hit .248/306/.360 with 3 HR, 23 RBI, 17 R, 5 SB in 62 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the sixth round in 2012. Stamets will be 24 on September 25.
