Aramis Ramirez traded to Pirates

Aramis Ramirez was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 23, 2015 along with cash. The Brewers in exchange received Yhonathan Barrios.

Ramirez is a third baseman who hit .247/.295/.430 with 11 HR, 42 RBI, 25 R, 1 SB in 81 games with the Brewers. He returns to the Pirates where he started his MLB career. Over 18 MLB seasons with the Brewers, Cubs and Pirates he has hit .284/.342/.494 with 380 HR, 1384 RBI, 1080 R, 29 SB in 2138 games. He originally signed with the Pirates in 1994 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Ramirez turned 37 on June 25.

RHP Barrios split 2015 between Double A Altoona and Triple A Indianapolis. He was 0-1, 1.46 ERA, 12 K, 1.05 WHIP, .193 BAA, 10 SV in 24.2 IP over 20 games at Altoona and 1-2, 4.60 ERA, 9 K, 1.72 WHIP, .302 BAA, 1 SV in 15.2 IP over 13 games at Indianapolis. He originally signed with the Pirates in 2008 as an amateur free agent out of Columbia. Barrios turned 23 on December 1st.
